Two Tone Ska Patch
Two Tone Ska Patch
Ska was born from movement. From the late 1950s Jamaican dance halls to the explosion of 2 Tone in late-70s England, the music was inseparable from the way people moved their bodies. Sharp suits, pork-pie hats, clenched fists, bent knees, and that unmistakable forward lean — skanking wasn’t just dancing, it was identity.
When ska collided with punk in the late ’70s, the energy intensified. Bands sped it up, stripped it down, and carried the dance into clubs, streets, and all-ages shows. The skanking figure became a symbol of unity, working-class defiance, and joy under pressure.
